Angry Letters to the Editor

In the latest (August) OUT magazine, there were two nasty letters to the editor about my last column. Funny how if someone agrees with you or laughs, they won't write in. But strike a nerve, and look out!

Strangers felt something strong enough to take the time to sit down and write nasty things about me, which only makes me certain about that last column. It was one of my best.

I can't access the Letters online. This is just a ploy to make us go out and buy the magazine, isn't it?

Ok, I'm popping out now to get it.

I read the two nasty comments. BOOOO!!! I guess i'm one of the guilty ones. i always love your articles, but never write in. i just write you instead. isn't it funny how critical people are if anyone is outside the norm. there is all kinds of prejudices out there. we're all supposed to come out stamped from an assembly line with all the same thoughts, morals & feelings. well, i love you just the way you are. i'll be rushing out to buy your next book the very first day it goes on sale.

Although PLOY is one of my favorite four letter words, I would never force you to spend your hard earned money! Just read it real quick at the magazine rack, then put it back!

Thanks for the love!

Do you have a link to the original article from last month? I read the two letters but I can't tell much from that. Except the Letter Writers seem to be of the Gay-Parents-Coaching-Child-For-Spelling-Bee variety.

And I DID buy the magazine.

Tip: It's a bad idea to go Magazine Shopping after 3 Strawberry Daiquiris. I bought OUT, People, L'Uomo Vogue, Vanity Fair, US Weekly, Unzipped (!) and The Economist. I'm bankrupt.

PS I can't find a column by you in this month's Out. Though there is a pic of Yummy Chad White on Page 91. And it is yet another pic of him with a Horse. He works out at Chelsea Piers. Chad, not the horse.

Hey Edina-

I looked on and they didn't link last month's column to their site. I guess they like to save things for print...but it's the summer double issue if you ever come across it.

Yeah, no column this month--but I'll be back next month. I can't believe you bought all those magazines. How very old-fashioned!

I didn't see the letters, probably of the pro "little adult" variety...

Just goes to prove the saying "You can't please all the people all the time." So, why try? Just be yourself.

Mark :-)

I had even contemplated writing a Letter to the Editor after the issue your article appeared in.

I think it is wonderful that many gay people who WANT to raise children can.

That being said, I'm not a fan of the gayby boom. I don't want children, and I don't enjoy when people expect me to like their kids. They're yours, not mine, you love them unconditionally.

So, I'm sorry they only published the negative responses to your article, but there are more of us out there who feel the same way you do and are cheering you on!
